I am issuing this press statement to address a recently circulated video containing manipulated and fabricated content, which falsely portrays the current Minister of Human Resources V. Sivakumar and myself. I categorically deny the authenticity of this video and condemn the deliberate attempt to mislead the public with false information.
The video has been altered through superimposed images and audio manipulation techniques. It is important to note that the video is a complete fabrication and holds no basis in reality.
The original video was actually done when PH was still in the opposition and before the 15th General Election and was meant to bring awareness to the public about the disparity in income to minimum wage in the lower income groups from one school to the others, despite being under the government.
In the video I highlighted that some were paid RM1,200 and some RM1,500. This is despite foreign workers starting with RM1,500. I raised that this situation was illogical and to have this disparity with the decision at the time to defer the policy was what I was actually discussing.
Now shockingly, Cybertrooper have used this video to try and cause tension in Pakatan Harapan and DAP. They have linked my video with Sivakumar, apparently trying to establish bad blood between us by pushing the blame to Sivakumar. I never have said this.
I will now make reports to the relevant authorities and will fully cooperate with the investigations that will follow. I sincerely hope that those responsible for creating and spreading this fake video will be held accountable for their actions.
It is unfortunate that some parties have to resort to such despicable means to garner support as the state elections are drawing close. I won’t be surprised if more doctored videos are circulated as we move closer to the polls. I urge the public to be aware and not circulate these doctored videos.
