Annuar Musa – Race or religion is never a qualification to be robbers of the nation wealth

It is not surprised that UMNO’s Information Chief Annuar Musa had turned to the religious card by describing the DOJ’s pursuit of 1MDB assets was part of a conspiracy to meddle in Malaysia’s affairs and to end Muslim rule in Malaysia.

Annuar Musa knows there is no defence for the current Barisan Nasional administration after the latest DOJ kleptocratic action to forfeit up to US$1.7 billion of 1MDB-linked assets out of a new total of US$4.5 billion money-launcdering scam using American banks. Even Najib Razak himself has said “no more statements on DOJ”.

For Annuar Musa and UMNO, the only way to save Najib Razak and Barisan Nasional regime is to resort to racial and religious card. This is the same tactic employed by the UMNO’s propogandalist who had repeatedly and relentlessly labelled DAP as “anti-Malay” and “anti-Islam”, threating and frighting the Malays and Muslims in the nation for the risk of “losing powers”, in the past few months.

Malaysians, be it Malays, Chinese or Indians, Muslims or non-Muslims, will not lose if Barisan Nasional and Najib Razak fall. The biggest losers will be those named in the the DOJ’s suit who squabbled off the nation wealth, to name the notable ones, Riza Aziz, a Malay and Jho Low, a Chinese. Race or religion is never a qualification to be robbers, in this case, the robbers of the nation wealth.

Let us also remind Annuar Musa what he has said after the first round of seizure by DOJ.

In July 2016, Annuar Musa was quoted in Berita Harian Online to have said that the DOJ’s seizure is a normal process involving a civil summon, and it has nothing to do with 1MDB or Datuk Seri Najib Razak. He further alleged that it was the political opponents who twisted the facts to implicate the Prime Minister, and if DOJ win the case eventually, the assets will be returned to its rightful owner, in this case is 1MDB.

The DOJ’s action seems fine to Annuar Musa by then. He was merely trying to push the blame on the oppositions. Didn’t Annuar Musa sound that the DOJ was something good and he was hoping that the DOJ will win the case eventually and return the assets to 1MDB? Why is there a big turn now in particularly after the suit has brought up the subject of the purchase of US$27.3 million diamond necklace by MO1’s wife, i.e. Rosmah Mansor, from 1MDB laundered funds?

The answer is clear: when the facts are too apparent and no defence to the claims, manipulating race and religion sentiments are the only savior for Barisan Nasional.
