The Bandar Kuching Junior Open & Amateur Veteran Badminton Championship was concluded this weekend at Seven Stone Badminton Court. This event is sponsored by my office in collaboration with Kuching Badminton Association(KBA) as well as other generous sponsors including Badminton World(BW)
Over the course of the event, a total of 83 athletes from various parts of Kuching and as far as Sibu competed, displaying high levels of skill and sportsmanship. The championship not only provided a platform for emerging talents to shine but also brought together the community in a celebration of health, fitness, and sports excellence.
Such competitions offer numerous benefits that extend beyond the thrill of the game. These benefits encompass various aspects, especially in promoting health and fitness as it encourages a lifestyle of regular physical activity, crucial in a time where sedentary lifestyles are prevalent.
On top of that such events bring together diverse groups from across Sarawak, fostering community spirit and unity. They serve as a social platform for people of all ages to interact and engage with one another, strengthening communal bonds.
For the youth of Sarawak, these competitions are an avenue for developing discipline, focus, and sportsmanship. They provide structured activities that can keep young people engaged positively, steering them away from less desirable activities.
That is why my office will continue to work with different organisation to have more of such events to promote thr sport and give a platform for our youth to fulfill their potential. I also contributed RM10,000 to Kuching Badmintion Association to help them with the expenses as they train and devrlop new talents for Sarawak.
