BN should take responsibility on their past misdeeds and not resort to dirty and desperate political games

We note with interest and amusement the persistence of the Opposition to drag Sdr Lim Guan Eng, our Finance Minister to the Parliamentary Privileges Committee for “misleading the House” on the matter of GST missing funds.

The bone of contention appears to be the fact that the Finance Minister pointed out the funds were missing, while the PAC concluded that the funds were moved to other account(s).

The two are not mutually exclusive. Funds from the GST collection are meant to be in a certain account, and the Finance Minister was right to call them missing as they were not in those accounts.

Moreover, the AGC has pointed out that there was legal wrongdoing in the funds being moved into other accounts, other than the one gazetted for it, under Law.

This focus on semantics and misguided attempt to take a non-issue and turn it into one is nothing but diversionary tactics and smacks of desperate politics by Barisan Nasional.

The fact remains, for three whole years, this very Opposition bloc, that sat as Government, sat idly by and did nothing not only on this GST issue, but also on the global scandal of 1MDB kleptocracy.

The Opposition should participate meaningfully in the democratic process and not embarrass themselves by this political charade, and instead focus on being a constructive Opposition and participating in the the new opportunities at bipartisanship and cooperation in the New Malaysia, such as the successful passing of the law to amend the Constitution to allow 18 year-olds to vote.
