- This event is organized by Gabungan Impian Kelantan, co-organized by Hong Kong Bruce Lee Club and Malaysia Mandarin Comic Society and endorsed by Bruce Lee’s younger brother, Robert Lee.
- The advisors of Gabungan Impian Kelatan are DAP Parliamentary Leader Lim Kit Siang and former Bar Council chairman Datuk Ambiga Sreenevasan. DAP National Organizing Secretary Loke Siew Fook as the convenor will take the responsibility to associate Democratic Action Party with 49 NGOs as part of the movement to assist Kelantan flood disaster victims to reconstruct their homes.
- In conjunction with Bruce Lee’s 75th birthday this year, fans of the martial art icon will hold variety of programmes to celebrate that auspice day of 2015. In Malaysia, we are organizing a charity art exhibition to fund the Kelantan flood disaster reconstruction and rebuild. Our fund raising target is RM200,000.
- The exhibition will be touring 5 cities in the country:
- 29th May to 3rd June (ICT Mall, Komtar Penang)
- 5th June to 8th June (Ipoh Parade, Ipoh)
- 11th June to 16th June (The Mines, Kuala Lumpur)
- 19th June to 21st June (Plaza Pelangi, Johor Bahru)
- 25th June to 27th June (Kota Baru Mall, Kota Baru)
- Penang will be the first stop of this event, and the opening ceremony will be held on Friday, 29th May 2015, 1.30pm at Komtar ICT Mall. The Chief Minister of Penang, YAB Lim Guan Eng will attend the opening ceremony accompanied by Penang State EXCO Chow Kon Yeow and MPs and ADUNs of Penang.
- There are 126 artists and illustrators from Hong Kong, Taiwan, Mainland China, Philippines and Malaysia contributing 131 original artwork and digital paintings to this exhibition.
- The 32 Hong Kong artists are mostly playing important roles in the creative industries, such as “the Godfather of Hong Kong movie poster” Yuen Taiyung, Hong Kong top 3D animator Shannon Ma, top illustrators like Adam Chow and Milton Wong, prestigious political cartoonist Malone, famous cartoonist Tsui Shing On, and Hong Kong Martial Art comic artists Fuklung Dark, Dick Kwong, Jerry Cho, Andy Woo, Cheung Man Yau,Kenneth Cheng, Beyen Tai and etc.
- There are 3 groups of prominent and remarkable local artists joining this event. Firstly, we have local mandarin cartoonists like Eddie See , Cheong Swee Seng, Woody Pecker, Keith Chong Kah Hwee, Chow Moon Wai, Chong Po Ling, Chang Boon Kiat, Sengcomic, Tan Kheng Seng and etc. The second group is Malaysian Superhero comic artists who create graphics for DC and Marvel such as Tan Eng Huat, Alan Quah and Billy Tan. Lastly, there are outstanding illustrators such as Vince Low, Lim Seng Hooi, Lee Wee Chong and Chong Jit Leong.
- There are 9 female artists contributing to this charity art exhibition, namely Suet Ching from Hong Kong, “Tomato” Chong Po Ling, Teh Wan Yun, Shermen Chu Seok Boon, Florence Chung, Uki Gan, Chung Pei Qin, Procotee and Wang Li Hua from Malaysia.
- All of the 131 artwork will be sold in the exhibition to raise fund for charity purpose and no auction will be carried out. There are four price categories: RM1k, RM2.5k, RM5k and RM10k. The price of each artwork will be determined according to the creator’s fame, artwork quality, meaning, digital or hand-painted and the size of each painting.
- Apart from the original and digital paintings, there are also fine merchandises based on the artwork like hardcover pictorial book and postcard. Artists, special guests, staffs and volunteers will also receive a limited edition Bruce Lee t-shirt as an appreciation gift, and some of them will be sold to the public. We look forward to the generosity of the public by giving some financial aid to the flood victims.
- Some of the artists will be attending the exhibition and give their autograph on the spot. Each city’s sponsors will also organize some related activities such as Wing Chun performance and seminar of Bruce Lee spirit.
