Bukit Gasing Initiative Offers Lifeline to Residents with Affordable Wound Care Services

A new collaborative effort between Pejabat ADUN Bukit Gasing and MyHealerDoc is bringing much-needed relief to residents struggling with access to affordable wound care. This initiative aims to bridge a critical gap in healthcare services, particularly for the growing population of diabetic patients and the “sandwich generation” caregivers who are faced with patients who have limited mobility and rising healthcare costs.

Nationwide Challenge, Local Solution:

“An estimated 2.4 million Malaysians grapple with wound care challenges,” reveals Jagadesan, CEO and Founder of MyHealerDoc. “Limited mobility, transportation costs, and lack of family support often create insurmountable barriers to proper treatment. This, unfortunately, leads to preventable limb loss, especially among diabetic patients.”

The initiative specifically addresses the concerns of Malaysia’s aging population and the “sandwich generation” who often juggle caring for young children and aging parents.

“Senior citizens require assistance, and the burden often falls on women who may have to leave their jobs to care for both their parents and young children,” explains Kusaaliny Mahendran, Petaling Jaya City Councillor and Project Manager. “We hope this initiative empowers faster recovery for patients facing mobility limitations and eases the burden of traveling to distant clinics in order to receive treatment for their wound. Getting in and out of vehicles is extremely difficult for those who have wounds especially if they do not have a full time caregiver.”

Making Healthcare Accessible:

Through this partnership, Bukit Gasing residents will have access to professional wound care services at a significantly reduced cost of RM60 per session. B40 residents will benefit further with a subsidized rate of RM30 per session, borne jointly by Pejabat ADUN Bukit Gasing and MyHealerDoc. This subsidized rate stands in stark contrast to the typical RM120 charged at private clinics which excludes the travel cost and time off by loved ones in order to provide the care.

A Model for the Future:

“Initiatives like this become increasingly crucial as Malaysia’s population ages,” emphasizes RajivRishyakaran, ADUN Bukit Gasing. “We hope this program serves as a model for ensuring accessibleand affordable healthcare reaches all segments of society.”

This collaboration sets a commendable example of addressing a critical healthcare gap at the community level.
