I call upon the Prime Minister Dato Seri Najib Razak and his government to support the motion I filed yesterday to have the ruling of the Speaker of the Dewan Rakyat Tan Sri Pandikar Amin Mulia barring questions on 1MDB on grounds of sub juice last Monday, reviewed and set aside.

The sums involved in the DOJ claim are huge and the allegations therein most serious in nature. They are certainly a matter of public interest.

A debate in the Dewan Rakyat will be useful. It will enable questions to be raised and answers over the extent to which monies belonging to 1MDB have been used and the role played by certain individuals if any, including Malaysian Official 1, in the process.

The Prime Minister should take full advantage of this opportunity.

With the benefit of the entire government machinery behind him and the floor of the house, where else can the Prime Minister be better equipped to explain this issue to the people but for Parliament?

Silence on his part in respect of a matter as serious as this, would not reflect well on him both locally and internationally.

He should therefore, in the circumstances, as Prime Minister, step up and support the motion.
