Case closed! Not so fast, PDRM! KL police announced on its case closure of the investigation on the arson which killed 23, mostly children, at a tahfiz school in Kuala Lumpur on Thursday.
It was announced yesterday that seven teenage suspects were arrested on a murder investigation among other crimes. Six out of the seven suspects’ urine tested positive for ganja use. One shocking news after another, the nation is stumped with the arrest of these suspected drug-taking teenage killers.
Instead of announcing the arson cum mass murder case is solved, the police has to now embark on a nationwide crack on at least two hideous crimes highlighted by this sad senseless deaths of 23 innocent victims.
First, the arson which killed the 23 victims is suspected of being caused by the kids under the influence of ganja. Is ganja so easily available on the streets for our kids to buy?
Malaysia has one of the most severe sentence in the world on illegal drug offences. And yet, teenage kids can easily get their ganja supply. And under the influence of drugs, they may be capable to burn their peers to death over ejek-mengejek (mocking).
If kids can easily buy ganja, I shudder to think how much easier it will be for the adults to procure the same and other types of drugs in our country. Just imagine the possibility of deadly hideous and sinister crimes adults under the influence of a more potent drug may execute?
Our police must immediately assist to curb these rampant drugs activities. The first step should be to determine who sold ganja to the killer kids, and whether these drug sellers may be charged as accomplices to the fire that killed 23 lives.
However, it remains a priority to get these drug sellers off the street to keep our children and community safe.
Secondly, how could six school-going kids afford to buy ganja? I am certain their allowance by their parents is insufficient to support a drug habit. Is there a possiblity those kids are forced to undertake illicit jobs to earn extra money? If so, who gave them the money and what do they have to do in return for the money? The authorities must be more vigilant to assist in eradicating these activities happening in our schools. They must terminate this “food chain” and disconnect it before another tragic crime takes place in our country.
