Challenge Datuk Seri Musa Aman to make a clear stand over Hudud

The State Government must be brave enough to make its official stand on Hudud by itself just like the Sarawak State Government.

I also challenge the Barisan Nasional (BN) component parties in Sabah to repeat the stand they have made in the media to reject Hudud at the State Cabinet.

This will help in formulating the Sabah State Government’s official stand and they will not disappoint the people of Sabah.

The reply by Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman (State Government) to his question in the State Legislative Assembly on July 14 last year was vague and not convincing.

I am disappointed because he did not give a firm and clear stand of the State Government. Whatever it is, the State Government should make the decision for itself.

Furthermore, even our Prime Minister have yet to decide the Federal Government’s stand on the implementation of Hudud in Kelantan after one week the amendment to the state’s syariah law was passed.

It would be a waste if all the Sabah BN component parties expressed objection to Hudud but the State Government is not reciprocating by making an official stand of similar nature.

I wish to remind once again that Sabah is an equal partner in Malaysia, while Kelantan is only one of the 11 states in Malaya. Sabah’s voice is more important in the discussion of constitution and power sharing under Federal.

It is time that the Sabah people and its State Government make a clear and strong stand in issues that jeorpardise the country’s Federal constitution.
