I challenge Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak to commission an independent survey among the Chinese community on whether policies set by the BN have directly helped the Chinese community’s success.
I am certain that the survey result will show that majority do not agree with the Prime Minister’s claim.
The fact that the Chinese voters have overwhelmingly rejected BN in the 2008 and 2014 general elections proves how they feel about the BN government.
Datuk Seri Najib’s claim that BN has ensured a fair share of opportunities in the country that led to most Chinese being relatively successful is far from the truth and can only be viewed as an attempt to downplay the extra hard work the community has to do and the unfair conditions they have to face in order to succeed.
Najib is dreaming when he cited Chinese education as an example of how BN has treated the community well when he should know better that till today the many long standing problems facing Chinese education have not been resolved.
Unfair allocations, shortage of schools and teachers are among the various and longstanding issues faced by the Chinese primary schools and have long been highlighted by Opposition parties, Chinese groups and community, yet the government has not resolved these problems despite having been in power for decades.
Even till today, the school Boards of Chinese schools have to fork out their own money to employ temporary teachers due to teacher shortage.
It is not a secret that a main factor which has resulted in the brain drain of many Chinese talents and citizens out of this country is their concern about lack of fair education opportunities at higher institutions of learning for their children. Can the Prime Minister deny this?
If Datuk Seri Najib is committed to 1Malaysia concept, he should implement color blind policies which will help strengthen the sense of belonging among all Malaysians and forge genuine unity among all races.
