Yesterday, the world was shocked by the deadliest terror attack in France in more than 50 years, as three gunmen attacked the offices of French satirical magazine Charlie Hebdo in Paris, killing 12 people including its editor-in-chief.
DAP unequivocally condemns this heinous and violent attack. There is no doubt that the perpetrators of these inhumane killings must be met with the full force of justice and the law.
Although we do not agree with the magazine’s often-questionable satire, there is nothing that justifies extremism, much less cold-blooded murder, especially against media practitioners. Such an act of barbarity goes against not only the universal values of humanity, but also the fundamental values of Islam as a religion of peace.
We stand in solidarity with the French people during this terrible time. Our sincerest thoughts and condolences go out to the victims, friends and families of this atrocious crime. More than ever, we must unite against all forms of extremism.
In solidarity.
