The DAP Disciplinary Committee (DC) today sacked Danny Liom Eng Tiong, member of DAP OUG Branch, for publicly making malicious accusations against MP for Seputeh Teresa Kok over the handling of election funds.
The DC also suspended the membership of Wong Choo Chieang, former DAP Seputeh Branch Chairman, for a year and Khoong Kam Yin, former DAP Taman Desa Branch Chairman, for two years for their involvement in the matter.
The DC heard the complaints from DAP Seputeh Parliamentary Liaison Committee as well as YB Teresa Kok and the three members involved and had also examined the accounts and documents presented by DAP Seputeh.
The DC concluded that the allegations levelled against her and her elections campaign manager Ng Chai Heng were false and baseless.
The trio had breached party discipline as they failed to exhaust internal party channels to raise their grouses, including lodging a report with the DC. Instead, they had appeared in the media and were abetted by a non party individual to defame and tarnish the reputation of a party leader.
Based on the findings of the DC, the allegations made by Danny Liom Eng Tiong, which were supported by Khoong Kam Yin and Wong Choo Chieang, against Teresa Kok were unsubstantiated and not backed by evidence.
According to Clause VII paragraph 3 of the DAP Constitution, the trio is allowed to appeal against the DC’s decision to the Central Executive Committee of the party within 14 days.
