As chairman of the DAP Disciplinary Committee, I wish to announce that Fong Pau Teck, the State Assemblyman for Pujut in Sarawak, has been expelled from the Party with immediate effect.
The DC’s decision is based on the fact that Fong has displayed various acts of disobedience, hence breaching party discipline on a many occasions.
Fong’s refusal to pay the mandatory monthly contribution to the Party as well as the arrears owing to the Party as a result of the increment in the allowance of Sarawak state assemblymen, constitutes an act of insubordination to a Party directive.
The DC finds that Fong’s insubordination towards the Party’s mandate has set a very bad precedent which is unpardonable.
Therefore, the Disciplinary Committee has reached a unanimous decision to expel Fong. He has been directed to resign his seat in the Sarawak State Assembly as per his mandatory undertaking pursuant to Clause IV paragraph 12(c) of the Party Constitution.
Fong however, has 14 days to appeal in writing against the Party’s decision from the date of his expulsion letter, pursuant to Clause VII paragraph 3 of the Party Constitution.
