DAP extend sincerest condolences to the peace loving people of Egypt for the untimely death of former Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi

We, at the DAP International Bureau, want to extend our sincerest condolences to the peace loving people of Egypt for the untimely death of former Egyptian President Mohammed Morsi. The first democratically elected President of Egypt in 2012, he became a political prisoner and was isolated from the rest of the world for almost 6 years.

May his death remind us of the price of democracy, that regardless of affiliations and on where one’s political inclinations lie on the complex political spectrum democracy embraces, the progress of our collective humanity should be of utmost priority. Solidarity with those oppressed- even those whom we disagree with – should be the rule and not an exception. Political differences should never be cause to strip someone of his human rights. May he rest in peace.
