DAP supports Bersih’s “Operation Black 505” and urges all members and supporters to wear black tomorrow!

DAP urges all party members and supporters to support Bersih’s “Operation Black 505” tomorrow by wearing black to protest against the crackdown and arrests of the May Day rally participants.

Besides our solidarity with all those arrested especially the 23 youths who are still remanded, we also support the other objectives of the “Ops Hitam 505” to continue to pressure the government to abolish the GST, to protest gerrymandering via electoral constituency redelineation and to establish an Independent Police Complaints and Misconduct Commission (IPCMC) to end abuses of police powers.

Let’s make the protest a strong reminder to Barisan Nasional and Najib that Malaysians were denied a legitimate Pakatan Rakyat federal government who was voted by 52% of the electorate exactly 2 years ago. By right, Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim would have been our Prime Minister for the past 2 years and providing strong leadership in Putrajaya now and not suffering as a prisoner in Sungai Buloh.

Let us all remind Najib that he is not only a minority Prime Minister leading a minority government but he has also failed to provide leadership in every aspect of governance in the country for the past 2 years!

As Najib has lost the confidence of not only the majority of Malaysians but even his rank and file within UMNO, he should do the honourable thing by stepping down as Prime Minister and give the mandate back to the people by dissolving Parliament! This may be the best way to steer the country back into the right direction.
