DAP Selangor will oppose any move to introduce hudud in Selangor.
In a report today, the Malaymailonline said that UMNO had submitted a motion to Selangor State Assembly Speaker Hannah Yeoh asking for the state to look into the possibility of enforcing hudud in Selangor.
We in the DAP have said and repeated many times that we are of the view that any law which seeks to enforce hudud would be unconstitutional.
The position applies with equal if not more force to state enactments as criminal laws can only be passed by Parliament and not by any state assembly.
We reiterate this and say again that we in the DAP will firmly oppose any move to introduce hudud in Selangor.
