DAPSY condemns terrorism act in Christchurch, New Zealand

On behalf of DAPSY, I would like to extend our deepest condolences to the people of Christchurch and New Zealand.

My sincerest solidarity goes to my fellow former President of IUSY, and Prime Minister of New Zealand, Jacinda Ardern. May all the strength and resolve be with you during these testing times.

What occured in Christchurch is an act of brutality, violence and unquestionable terrorism that shows the extreme ugliness of our humanity.

Wisma Putra has so far reported no Malaysians to be among the fatalities. However, two Malaysians were injured during the incident and are being treated. Our thoughts are with the victims of the shooting, as well as their family and loved ones.

No followers of any peace loving faith should be subjected to any form of terrorism. Terrorism may be perpetrated under the guise of religion, or the aversion to a religion by misinformed people trapped in hatred; but no faith nor peace loving religious teachings santions nor legitimises it.

Let us be united in rejecting the viscious path of blame, by treating the cancer of hatred and extremism with the rule of law and the largest measure of humanity . Those who have unleased this darkness upon the world must be dealt with by the toughest most consequences of the law.

This is not the time to erode further our collective faith in our humanity, but to strengthen it. Hatred must not be combated by fighting the haters, but by unifying those who don’t in solidarity with each other.
