In the DAPSY Penang’s State Executive Council (SEC) meeting called in Bukit Mertajam last night, the frozen working relationship between the DAPSY Penang and the Pas Youth Penang was brought up again for further deliberation in the meeting.
It was decided and agreed upon that the DAPSY Penang will continue to freeze our ties with the Pas Youth Penang while for the Permatang Pauh by-election campaign which will be kicked-off from 25th of April to 7th of May, 2015, we will set aside our differences without changing our stance on this matter.
In other words, the question of retracting our previous decision or unfreezing our frozen relationship with the Pas Youth Penang is not arisen. We will not directly engaging the Pas Youth Penang for the Permatang Pauh campaign in any way. But we will work with the PKR and the Pakatan Rakyat as a whole to secure the victory for the people, since this is the first and the utmost important electoral battle for all Malaysians to call for the abolishment of the GST.
The suspension is still in place and it is not lifted until today. The DAPSY Penang’s decision taken was based on the latest assessment on the people’s sentiments over the GST and we wish to turn the Permatang Pauh into a common battleground for all Malaysians, regardless race and religion and even their political beliefs, to voice their frustration over the GST and to call for its abolishment eventually.
Since the Permatang Pauh is contested by a PKR candidate, we cannot simply dictate the PKR’s campaign decision. Hence, we will not snub any event organized by the PKR, no matter it is with or without the Pas’ involvement. However, we will not engage the Pas Youth Penang directly or invite Pas Youth leaders for any event we are going to organize for the Permatang Pauh campaign.
We respect the decision of the PKR Youth Penang (AMKPP) if it want to involve the Pas Youth Penang in the campaign activities, but that should not be a reason for us to backtrack from our decision. The DAPSY Penang is fully committed to mobilise all our young leaders from all our divisions within Penang state as well as from other states, to intensively campaign for PKR candidate in the Permatang Pauh by-election.
The relationship between the DAPSY Penang and the Pas Youth Penang or to certain extent, the working relationship between DAP and Pas should not be an issue continue to be exploited by certain parties and eventually looming over the Permatang Pauh campaign.
Let us not forget, to ensure that we can succeed in this campaign and eventually pile up the pressure for the GST to be abolished, “Solidarity against BN!” must always come first. We hope everyone can help us either directly or indirectly to retain the Permatang Pauh Parliamentary seat if we want to do away the GST as sooner as possible.
