The theme for the coming DAP Johor Ordinary Convention is “JOHOR LEADS”.
No doubt, Johor was the frontline state in GE13 and DAP has successfully marked the glorious ever results in Johor by winning 4 parliamentary seats and 13 state seats.
Despite the historical breakthrough, the fight for a regime change is yet achieved. It is undeniable that Johor together with Sabah and Sarawak will continue to be the main battlefield in GE14. Hence, JOHOR LEADS!
And now, by having 2 leaders of top quality offering themselves to be DAP Johor Chairperson, again DAP JOHOR LEADS as in DAP’s 48-year of history, it is the first time we have 2 capable and outstanding leaders devoting themselves to lead DAP Johor at the same time.
Just like 2-party system can bring healthy competition and a check-and-balance system in national governance, healthy competition between leaders in a same party can bring to fruitful discussion on ideas and ideology.
The healthy competition amongst the leaders should be recognised at large. Wherefore, we against any stigma or labeling towards any candidates, in particulars, the battle line between the local camp and the central camp. The common agenda in the coming DAP Johor election should be a fruitful discussion on ideology, ideal and direction by the candidates in order to win the votes. Hence, we urge the delegates to elect the most suitable talent to lead DAP Johor by evaluating their ideology and ideas rather than affected by any rumours or labeling.
Apart from that, we, as the DAP Johor women leaders also urge for another breakthrough in the coming election – one-third of the elected committees are women.
Over the years, DAP is committed to promoting at least one-third of women representatives in the decision-making position. Nonetheless it is slow in progress and to date, there is no state committee has achieved this agenda amongst the twelve state committees. Fortunately, after GE13, Johor has become the most potential state to achieve this goal as we are having a female parliamentarian, four state assemblywomen and several active women state committees. JOHOR LEADS can also become another milestone on empowering women rights, as the first state committee to accomplish the one-third quota.
Lastly, we encourage all delegates of DAP Johor to attend and cast votes on Sunday and together we realise the JOHOR LEADS’ vision hand in hand!
