FAM should not be hunting down the individual responsible for passing on the information, but instead FAM should reveal its contents so that it can be evaluated by the nation’s football fans

Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin is right.

Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) should not be hunting down the individual responsible for passing on the information, but instead FAM should reveal its contents so that it can be evaluated by the nation’s football fans.

“Surely what is important is the contents, because in terms of priority I believe football fans are not interested to hear from FAM who leaked the information.

“What is more important is the contents of the pendrive,” Khairy was quoted by BH Online as saying yesterday.

Using the same logic and rationale, does Khairy agree that AG should drop the charge against Rafizi Ramli under Official Secret Act for allegedly leaking a classified audit report on 1MDB? And more importantly, is Khairy prepared to bring the matter to cabinet meeting and suggest Najib to declassify the Auditor-General’s report on 1MDB?

Just like football fans are not interested to know who leaked the information, the people of Malaysia are not bothered if the information revealed from Rafizi was official secret.

“What is more important is the content,” as rightly pointed by Khairy.

So, instead of hunting down Rafizi Ramli by using the draconian Official Secret Act, what BN government should do is declassify the Auditor-General’s report on 1MDB so that the content can be evaluated by all concerned citizens. And if indeed Rafizi has misled the general public or defamed 1MDB, then he can be charged under the relevant provision of laws.

Khairy’s advice to FAM is timely and accurate. However, other than defending the rights to information of all football fans, can we expect the outspoken Khairy to take one step further and speak up for all Malaysians, because in term of priority, the whole truth of 1MDB is more important than any other things?
