I urge Klang voters not to vote for MCA bases on the following five reasons :
- MCA remained silent throughout the 1MDB scandal. Taxpayers, including the people of Klang, are now forced to bear the RM42 billion debt caused by 1MDB. Each Klang citizen now has a debt of RM1,346 because of 1MDB, yet MCA still asks for your vote to support a corrupt regime.
- MCA paid lip service only when speaking against RUU355 to the Chinese community, but failed to stop its “partner” UMNO from giving the green light to the private member bill of RUU355 in Parliament. MCA is therefore responsible for increasing Islamic extremism in Malaysia, which erodes the secular system and non-Muslim rights.
- MCA failed to safeguard the interests of Chinese schools. Even though Najib has approved 10 new SJKCs and promised to transfer 6, this still falls short of the required 45 SJKCs, according to Dong Zong statistics. New Chinese independent secondary schools are not allowed, the recognition of UEC is only now “being considered”.
- MCA, as part of the Federal Government, failed to address the issue of the high crime rate in Klang. MCA Klang called upon MPK enforcement officers to join forces in tackling crime – which is ridiculous.
- Continued support of PH will force BN and MCA to reform the federal government and treat ethnic minorities fairly. The best example: In the past 60 years, MCA has failed to establish a non Islamic committee at all levels of government to protect the interests of religious minorities.
In contrast, Pakatan Harapan exposed the scandal, vows to bring the wrongdoers to justice and to reform the institutions involved.
In contrast, Pakatan Harapan as a coalition, disagreed with RUU355. We defended Malaysia’s secular system and non-Muslims’ fundamental rights. Even in the Selangor state government, where we have a working relationship with PAS, we have never allowed any extreme Islamic policy pushed by PAS.
In contrast, PH promises to build new SJKCs and allocate proportionate funds according to community needs. PH will give full recognition to UEC.
As part of the federal government MCA has failed in ensuring an independent, professional and efficient police force that can reduce the crime rate. MCA did nothing to stop the deaths in custody cases in Klang.
Instead, Pakatan Harapan promises to reform thr police force. We will assign 1/3 of the Special Branch police officers for street patrol and criminal investigations. There will be no more political persecution and death in custody under the new PH government.
After Pakatan Rakyat gained power in Selangor in 2008, it immediately set up a non-Islamic committee chaired by a DAP leader. Every year, this committee allocates RM3 million for all non-Islamic place of worship and temples. RM40 million in total has been allocated between 2008 and 2018.
Now, BN has imitated PR and pledged to set up a non-Islamic special affairs unit under the PMO. This shows that, if more people support the Opposition, BN and MCA will automatically react to pressure and reform themselves.
For the good of the community and the constituency, Klang voters should reject MCA. Save Klang, vote PH.
