Fully welcome any attempt by Barisan Nasional elected representatives to move motions to refer me to the House Rights & Privileges Committee

I have read from the media reports that the Deputy Finance Minister, Datuk Ahmad Maslan and the Member of Parliament for Lenggong, Shamsul Anuar Nagariah intends to file motions to refer me to the Parliamentary House & Privileges Committee.

They accused me of having misled the House in the speech debating the Budget 2015 committee stage for the Finance Ministry.

I have taken the trouble to listen to my own speech which was presented in Parliament on Thursday last week. The facts and figures cited were entirely derived from credible, verifiable and often publicly available sources and hence I stand by my entire speech.

I fully welcome any attempt by Barisan Nasional representatives to file the motion against me in Parliament alleging that I had misled the House. The motion is essentially a blunt attempt to keep me silent on the 1MDB debt issue.

The motion however, makes a complete mockery of the House because if I had indeed present wrong facts, then surely the relevant Minister or Deputy Minister replying on the debate could properly “correct” me and teach me a lesson. Instead, Datuk Chua Tee Yong, who was tasked to wind up the committee stage debate for the Finance Ministry avoided the issue of 1MDB like plague and refused to answer any of the questions I raised during my speech.

Their attempt to muzzle me however, has only given me greater encouragement and believe that I am on the right track. In fact, if they do indeed bring me to the privileges committee, I will have another golden opportunity to present all the relevant evidence on 1MDB’s scandals.
