Gerakan is trying to sabotage the Penang State Government’s three major roads and undersea tunnel project

The Penang DAP is appalled with the Gerakan’s intention to file an injunction to stop the three major roads and undersea tunnel project to be implemented by the Penang State Government.

The Gerakan has alleged that there are corrupt practice, misconduct, misinformation, abuse of public funds and illicit horse-trading.

We strongly deny these allegations, which have since been reported to and investigated by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission in 2016 without any action taken against the Penang State Government.

The Gerakan is just trying to sabotage these important infrastructure projects as they are fearful that Gerakan will suffer another severe defeat when these projects are implemented successfully.

As an update, as soon as the DEIA approval for the these major roads is obtained in the next few months, the consortium would be able to commence actual construction works.

The Gerakan has also questioned why the Penang State Government has started payment to the concession when no construction has commenced.

The Penang State Government has explained thoroughly that the payment made are for actual work done including the feasibility studies and preliminary detailed design and all related studies.
