Gerakan Minister and MPs should quit if UMNO’s MPs voted in support of Hadi’s Private Members Bill

It was reported that Gerakan Deputy Youth Chief Andy Yong has said that he will resign if Gerakan has voted in support for Hadi’s Private Members Bill.

Andy Yong’s statement does not draw much interest. It will add no pressure to UMNO, being the biggest political player behind Hadi’s Private Member Bill, in endorsing and supporting PAS and Hadi’s Bill.

If Gerakan has the political conviction and is sincere in defending the nation structure from being destroyed by Hadi’s Private Members Bill, its Cabinet Minister (Mah Siew Keong) and MP (Leong Tuck Meng) should offer to resign and pull Gerakan out from Barisan Nasional if UMNO’s MPs have voted for Hadi’s Bill.

Hadi Awang will not be able to bring his Private Members Bill up in Parliament, but for the special allowance granted by the UMNO-led BN government to take priority over the other Government Bills on the Parliament papers.

Similarly, Hadi, with only 13 PAS MPs into his count, will also never be able to get the Private Members Bill passed in Parliament, without the votes and support from 88 MPs from UMNO.

With or without Gerakan’s consensus, UMNO has given PAS and Hadi’s Private Members Bill the fullest support. However, UMNO will not be able to cling onto its power in government without the support from Gerakan and all others 13 component parties.

It is still not too late for Gerakan to mark their stance and stop Hadi’s Private Members Bill from being taken over by the BN Government in the coming Parliament sitting in March, by giving an ultimantim together with all other 13 BN component parties, in pulling out from BN if UMNO is insisting on its move. UMNO will then has to choose either to continue support PAS’ Private Members Bill, or face the risk of the collapse of BN coalition government.

Instead of trying to show its heroic actions outside the Parliament, will Gerakan have such a courage to issue the ultimatum to UMNO?
