Handover of Prihatin Box to the late Mr Sim’s widow

Recently, accompanied by the Sarawak State Director of PERKESO, Mr. Tan Phang Chia, and the Skuad PERKESO Prihatin Kuching, we paid a heartfelt visit to the residence of the dependant of the deceased, Mdm Sim Phek Hong. Her late husband, Mr. Sim Bian Chiang, tragically passed away on 29 April 2025 due to a road accident while on his way home from work.

The late Mr. Sim Bian Chiang served as a machine operator at Syarikat United G.I Products Sdn. Bhd. Upon receiving news of the incident, PERKESO officers swiftly initiated the claim process through his next of kin. Mdm Sim Phek Hong, who is a person with disabilities (deaf and mute), has since submitted all necessary documents and successfully completed the application for the Dependant’s Benefit under PERKESO’s Employment Injury Scheme.

Through this scheme, Mdm Sim is entitled to receive a Funeral Benefit of RM3,000, as well as monthly survivor’s pension payments for life. We sincerely hope this assistance can help to ease some of her financial burden and support her continued livelihood. She is currently working as a helper at a relative’s hawker stall, doing her best to stay strong and independent despite her personal challenges.

We also took a moment during the visit to offer our thoughts and prayers for the late Mr. Sim and to honour his contribution as a hardworking member of our community. May he rest in peace, and may his family continue to find strength in the days ahead.

We will keep up with the ongoing commitment to ensure that no one is left behind, and that every eligible dependant receives the support they deserve in their time of need.
