I refer to yesterday’s news that accused me of not making any effort to help the former temporary occupation licence (TOL) residents of Jinjang Selatan Tambahan (JST) or even to meet them. It was claimed by a self-proclaimed JST permanent housing resolution committee secretary that I was not helping the residents.
On the contrary, I was the one who initiated a meeting between the residents and the developer on Saturday morning of September 28, something which I did as the elected representative of Kepong, regardless of race or political affiliation. There were around 20 residents at the meeting including the committee secretary himself. They were given ample opportunities to ask the developer all their queries and answers were given on the spot. Some journalists also attended the meeting (See an attached picture taken at the meeting on Saturday).
The developer took the opportunity to inform residents that construction work has just begun last week. The delay was because they only received all relevant approvals from the Kuala Lumpur City Hall (DBKL) to start work recently and to start work of construction without DBKL’s prior approvals is illegal.
The developer had also said this was the third time that the residents renege on their agreements with the developer and DBKL, each time by asking for a different and higher demand. The first two agreements were made in 2016 and 2017.
I shall, therefore, not work with people such as the committee secretary who spread lies and fake news that I did not meet or help the JST residents.
I shall continue to work with the deserving JST residents to get reasonable compensation from the developer but I will not be used by certain greedy ex- residents who want to make use of this Jinjang Selatan Tambahan housing issue to hold the government and the developer to ransom by threatening protests and demanding unreasonable requests.
