If DAP is not allowed to use the pictures of Lim Guan Eng in our campaign materials, then MCA and MIC should not be allowed to use the pictures of Liow Tiong Lai and Dr. S Subramaniam either.
Across the nation, Election Commission has taken down DAP campaign materials with Lim Guan Eng’s photo.
EC justified it by saying that only pictures of two political party leaders, namely the president (or its equivalent) and deputy president (or its equivalent) (based on the use of logo / symbol of the political party registered by the candidate during the Nomination Day) can be used on campaign materials. Pictures of other officials of the contesting parties, other than the president and the deputy president are not permitted.
And since DAP candidates are contesting under PKR logo this time, we are not allowed to put Lim Guan Eng’s photos in our campaign materials.
Applying the same logic, EC should not allow MCA or MIC to use the photos of Liow Tiong Lai or Dr. S Subramaniam in their campaign either. This is because MCA and MIC are not contesting under their own party ticket but they are contesting under BN logo. The Chairman of Barison National is none other than Najib Razak while its deputy is Ahmad Zahid Hamidi. Liow Tiong Lai, Dr. S Subramaniam and the rest of BN component parties chairpersons are merely the vice chairpersons of Barisan National Supreme Council.
If EC is indeed impartial and fair, they should immediately order MCA and MIC to take down the campaign materials that have Liow Tiong Lai and Subramaniam’s photos. The fact is, Liow Tiong Lai and Subramaniam’s pictures are everywhere in the constituencies that they contest. Dare EC accept my challenge and respond immediately?
