I read with surprise that Datuk Seri Azalina Othman Said has taken over the law portfolio from Nancy Shukri since June 28 this year. The announcement was made more than two weeks after the transfer of the portfolio.
Nancy Shukri was then tasked with the less important portfolio from Mah Siew Keong, i.e. Malaysian Industry Government Group for High Technology (MIGHT) and National Innovation Agency and the Malaysia Nuclear Power Corporation.
The government owes the public, particularly the Sarawakians an explanation on the transfer of Nancy Shukri to the less important portfolio. It is clear and obvious that this was indeed a demotion and a subtle retaliation against Nancy for not going with “the Najib flow”. Isn’t this also not a “slap on the face” of the Sarawakian minister?
The demotion of Nancy Shukri is also an affront on PBB, after the resounding victory of Sarawak BN led by Adenan Satem, the president of PBB, in the recent of Sarawak election.
This demotion of Nancy Shukri in the PM’s Department proves that the federal government of BN doesn’t appreciate the the phenomenal efforts PBB in the recent Sarawak elections. The so-called devolving of more autonomy to Sarawak BN is only a farce and is not likely to materialize. It is evident from this that the Sarawakians will never see any significant national changes.
