Khairy Jamaluddin could not be more wrong. He ignores the basic principle of collective responsibility of the Cabinet, all to defend its party chief Najib Razak blindly

UMNO Youth Chief Khairy Jamaluddin had argued that Cabinet members during the BNM forex scandal cannot be blamed for the scandal as they were ‘misled’ and the true losses were covered up.

In the case of the US DOJ which has exposed and continues to expose the results of their investigation into the money stolen from the people of Malaysia in the 1MDB scandal, Khairy has chosen to remain in denial by ignoring all the evidence and allegations put forward… or perhaps, he is willingly allowing himself to be misled by Najib.

Is Khairy going to say the same thing 30 years later by repeating that the current Cabinet Ministers, including him, do not need to be responsible for the 1MDB scandal as they whole Cabinet has been misled by Najib?

Collective decision-making and collective responsibility is the basic principle in a Cabinet system. A minister should resign if he is not agreeable to any decisions made in the Cabinet. Najib is not qualified to be the Prime Minister, if he is so naive or stupid as to allow himself to be misled, and for scandals be covered up without his knowledge.

Whilst we can understand the convenient need for Khairy to defend his party chief, but for the sole purpose of getting to the truth of the matter, would Khairy at least agree to a Royal Commission of Inquiry investigation into the 1MDB mega scandal NOW and not 30 years down the road (a la the BNM forex scandal)?
