Launch of Philippines Pavilion at MIHAS 2024

There is a huge market for Halal products across the region, as well as globally.

When Malaysia chairs ASEAN in 2025, I believe Malaysia has a role to play in driving collaboration among ASEAN member states to further develop the Halal industry, in terms of quality, diversity, sustainability and innovation.

This should not be limited to consumer products which should be healthy and clean but also into the realm of Islamic financing.

Hence, I am honoured to be invited to launch the Philippines Pavilion at the 2024 Malaysia International Halal Showcase (MIHAS) with the Philippines Ambassador to Malaysia, Her Excellency Maria Angela A. Ponce.

The Philippines has 21 companies selling halal-certified products participating in this year’s MIHAS, from food and beverages to personal care and wellness products.

When Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim officiated MIHAS 2024 yesterday, he mentioned that the Halal industry had evolved into various aspects beyond food and beverages.

I fully support his aim of ensuring the Halal industry to include aspects of cleanliness and health as well as efficacy, and adopting modern technology.

May MIHAS 2024 be an opportunity to build lasting partnerships, fostering mutual growth, and strengthening the spirit of collaboration between Malaysia, the Philippines and the rest of the world.

Together, we look forward to a future where economic growth and inclusivity go hand in hand.
