DAP Sabah welcome the announcement by ESSCOM to launch a large scale operation to combat breaches in integrity among civil servants, especially those working in the enforcement division of the Eastern Sabah Security Zone (ESSZone).
The launching of the operation itself has proven what DAP lawmakers claimed before in parliament and state assembly, either by speech or by written statement, was factual right.
I welcome the move by ESSCOM Intelligence Deputy Director ACP Hashim Justin to clean up the civil machinery of the enforcement division in ESSZone. Even the announcement was made after one month we DAP Sabah lawmakers submitted memorandum to Prime Minister Office in parliament.
Among the complaints in the DAP Sabah memorandum to Prime Minister which was submitted on 28th May were excessive force used by ESSCOM personnel in it’s operations damaging properties in business premises. The memorandum also alleged the existence of corruption elements in ESSCOM, particularly involving undocumented foreign workers as well as high ranking officers playing golf while on duty.
It’s common sense for any ordinary people on the street that, many illegal immigrants who sneak into our country through the ESSZone, easily to obtain ICs, as assisted by our own civil servants who accept bribes.
It is hoped that, by joint forces of ESSCOM together with MACC, corruption practices could be reduced at it’s minimum level.
With the corruption practices by those enemies within continues, we can’t address the entry of illegal immigrants, trans border smuggling activities and ESSZone security effectively.
I also call on the public to report to the DAP, if they had strong evidence that civil servants in Esszone were involved in corruption and misconduct.
We will compile it and submit to relevant authorities. Nothing to fear about. We will protect the whistle blower. You see, after we criticised heavily against ESSCOM, eventually they has admitted our allegations were true and aware that serious action needed to be taken.
Meanwhile, I also support the MACC investigations against those fake Native Certificates.
The MACC investigations against fake Native Certificates could not target at one particular races. We can’t have the concept of Racial Profiling — only Chinese easily pretend as Sino. MACC should also combat those fake ICs and thus distorted the electoral results. The recent statement by Bersih has proven that illegal immigrants turned voters remain significant.
