Lim Lip Eng wish to update the public on the latest court proceedings involving the three men charged over the widely reported assault at a restaurant in Kepong on 7 May 2026.

I wish to update the public on the latest court proceedings involving the three men charged over the widely reported assault at a restaurant in Kepong on 7 May 2026.

Wong Weng Luen, Lai Kae Bin and Wan Ken Fei have pleaded not guilty to a joint charge under Section 326 of the Penal Code for causing grievous hurt to Andrew Teh Tiek Hua.

At the latest mention before the Kuala Lumpur Sessions Court on 14 August, the prosecution requested another month to provide further documents to the defence. The Court fixed 17 September 2026 for the next mention and ordered that all three accused be brought before the Court.

Separately, Wong Weng Luen applied for a mental health assessment at Hospital Bahagia. The Court allowed the application and directed that the assessment be reported back on 17 September.

Meanwhile, all three accused have applied to the Kuala Lumpur High Court for a review of the decision denying them bail. The application is fixed for a full hearing on 26 August 2026.

I will continue to follow the proceedings closely. Above all, the victim’s safety, welfare and access to justice must remain our priority while the case proceeds through the courts.
