Following the news that a Sabah UMNO leader being held over a Criminal Breach of Trust (CBT) of RM300 million by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) yesterday, and Pensiangan UMNO Division Chief Datuk Abdul Ghani Mohd Yasin has admitted today that he was the one called by MACC last Friday to give statement on a case, I express my concern over the “serious level of corruption” in the state.
I am shocked with the allegations that the Datuk Abdul Ghani was involved in corruption in the payment of compensation over state owned land, amounting to RM300 million.
I do not speculate and assume that the alleged individual was guilty. But it is beyond our imagination that, an UMNO divisional head who was former deputy chairman of a state agency, not even a YB, could be easily involved in a multi-million scandal.
DAP Sabah is more than happy to welcome MACC to conduct it’s duties professionally. However, Member Parliament of Sepanggar cum UMNO Sepanggar Head Datuk Jumat Idris might think the other way round. In his personal Face Book page, Jumat has posted the following statement:
“Ketua bahagian pensiangan datuk ghani yassin diberitakan dibawa keputerajaya oleh sprm mungkin atas tudohan rasuah semasa menjadi timbalan pengerusi sldb. Ketua menteri pernah bercakap dengan saya hal ini. Mungkin kah ini tindak balas terhadap pelan peralihan ? Fail sepanggar pun diangkut ke jkm untuk diteropong cari so call wrong doing bagi mematikan semangat kami. Berani kerana benar takut kerana salah.” (30th September 2014, 8.16am)
It is a serious allegation! Datuk Jumat indicates that the MACC probe for UMNO Pensiangan chief is a political revenge over the “transition plan” of Sabah UMNO, and his own “file” also said to be sent to Chief Minister office to “find fault”.
It was reported before that a meeting between eight UMNO Sabah divisional chiefs and Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak has been held in Putrajaya on 10th July to discuss about a proposal of “transition plan” for the top leadership in Sabah government.
The eight rebels are Jumat Idris (Sepanggar), Abdul Ghani (Pensiangan), Bolkiah Ismail (Kudat), James Ratib (Beluran), Rubin Balang (Tenom), Sairin Karno (Keningau), John Ambrose (Penampang), Wetrom Bahanda (Kota Kinabalu).
Bolkiah Ismail and James Ratib has dismissed the talk of “transition plan” later and they denied themselves get involved in the plan.
Not only that posting, Jumat has also replied to his friends or followers in his further comments. He has disclosed more serious allegations such as:
- Sabah Chief Minister Musa Aman has criticised Datuk Seri Salleh Said Keruak in front of him that Salleh is “corrupt” and “coward”. Salleh also said to gather Sabah UMNO divisional chief to topple down Musa.
- Cronyism is obvious in the current state administration.RM76 million paid to Michael Chia’s father by Yayasan Sabah for nothing but just for Musa’s personal interest.
- Musa and his son Hafiz Yamani also involved in “many cases” and it is “bigger” than Ghani’s case. Try to open the file for Bonggaya forest reserve and see who owns the 450000 acre?
Therefore, DAP Sabah calls upon MACC to conduct investigation over Jumat’s comments in his Face Book page immediately, as Musa said in his statement responding to the “Sabah UMNO leader held over CBT of RM300 million”, that “we are a transparent government and have nothing to hide.” If it is really nothing to hide, not only open the file to investigate Jumat’s serious allegations, but also probe Musa Aman and his son, Salleh Said Keruak, management of Yayasan Sabah, Michael Chia and his father, Sabah Forestry Director as all of them mentioned by the big mouth MP Sepanggar!
