Malaysians are still waiting for MCA to apologise unreservedly

Yesterday, it was revealed to the public that DAP veteran Lim Kit Siang will be bestowed with the ‘Tan Sri’ title in conjunction with the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Sultan Abdullah Sultan Ahmad Shah’s formal 64th birthday celebration. The title ‘Tan Sri’ is of a great degree and it is high time that Lim Kit Siang’s contribution in the Malaysian political scene be recognized. Lim Kit Siang is a dedicated politician and is steadfast in ensuring that Malaysia is able to progress in unity. There’s no better time for such a title to be given to him.

However, MCA Vice President, Ti Lian Ker brings up that DAP is to apologize to MCA on a matter that has transpired decades ago. His demand is absurd and does not do any good for the cooperation between the two parties in the coming 6 state elections, in particular the seats allocation negotiation.

If MCA is really seeing the matter as an issue that needs to be addressed, this is where the baton is passed back to them. During the height of the 1MDB scandal before the 14th general election in 2018, MCA leaders have given their full support to a prime minister that was embroiled in one of the hugest monetary scandals in the world. As a matter of fact, Malaysians are still waiting for MCA to apologise unreservedly. The question is now, when will the public expect such an apology? If anything, this is the best time to say, “Over to you, MCA!”.
