MCA’s entering into Sabah State Assembly through back door is against the wish of the voters of Luyang

When Luyang assemblyman Hiew King Cheu quit the DAP in last September, he said that he would not be joining any Barisan Nasional component party but would remain as an independent member in the state assembly.

However, it was clear from the pro BN comments he made subsequently that it was only a matter of time before he joined the BN coalition which he had so much and strongly criticized when he was in the DAP.

His application into the MCA yesterday did not therefore come as a surprise.

He should know how a political frog will be despised by the public and how he will have to pay the political price for joining the infamous list of political frogs in Malaysia.

He should not give any excuse whatsoever to justify his betrayal of the people who elected him as there can be no justifying for such betrayal.

Instead of giving any excuse, he should announce his resignation as the assemblyman for Luyang as he was elected on a DAP ticket.

MCA national leadership has talked much about party reforms and transformation since the Party’s election last December.

The people can now see that MCA’s new reform agenda and strategies include the party’s eagerness to return to Cabinet despite the party’s unprecedented electoral debacle in the last general election, the lack of courage to fight in the recent Bukit Gelugor parliamentary by election and now the acceptance of political frog to increase the party’s number of elected representatives.

What kind of reform and transformation are these?

May be MCA President Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai was too eager to ensure that MCA will no longer become the butt of the 7-11( 7 parliamentarians and 11 state Assemblymen) joke, but the truth is that it is still the 7 -11 party as Hiew had won the seat on a DAP ticket.

MCA’s entering into Sabah state assembly through back door is against the wish of the voters of Luyang. It is totally unacceptable and shameful, and against Liow’s call for reform of MCA.
