Media statement by DAP Assistant National Publicity Secretary and MP for Kulai on January 31, 2015

PAS secretary-general Mustafa Ali’s remark that DAP secretary-general Lim Guan Eng not qualified to sit in Pakatan’s top leadership is totally unacceptable and uncalled for.

Lim Guan Eng does not sit in Pakatan’s top leadership in his personal capacity. His presence in Pakatan’s top leadership is due to the fact that he is the top leader of DAP, a leader that was duly elected by the delegates of DAP. To reject Lim Guan Eng in Pakatan’s top leadership is to reject DAP from Pakatan, which makes me wonder why is Mustafa Ali so eager to see a break of PR?

It is not the first time for us to see the top leaders from PAS criticizing the top leaders of its allies. PAS President Hadi Awang has during the Selangor crisis openly said that the PKR President Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail unfit to be Selangor MB, despite the fact that she has the full support from PKR and DAP. PAS President has since refused to attend the PR top leadership meeting for reasons best known to himself.

Mustafa Ali said that a debate was needed as it involved the issue of integrity. Surely the right place to resolve this manufactured dispute is to have it thrashed out at a Pakatan Rakyat meeting where every top leader attends?

Hadi Awang and Mustafa Ali have said it several times that they do not have the intention to leave Pakatan Rakyat, but their actions show otherwise. If Hadi and his secretary-general cherish their allies in PR, why would they make such personal attacks openly in the first place?

PAS, PKR and DAP must return to PR Leadership Council to resolve all the differences before we disappoint all the supporters. I concur with the view of my comrade Zairil Khir Johari that a public debate between PR leaders will only play to the profit of BN. Malaysia is currently clouded by various crisis, the nation is counting on the leadership of Pakatan to provide direction and solution.
