Ministers should be held accountable for the answers and replies to the Parliament

Parliament is an important avenue for members of Parliament to extract information. Every sitting we submit 15 written questions to the Parliament. Not to mention all the issues and questions we raise during the debate. Our intention is none other than hoping to bring back some useful and accurate information for our voters.

However, it is sad to notice that replies and answers provided by the Ministers are not always accurate. Crime rate for the year 2013 will be the latest example.

Both YB Liew Chin Tong (Kluang) and YB Dr. Haji Izani bin Haji Husin (Pengkalan Chepa) asked for the crime statistic for the year 2013. And the answers received from the Home Minister vary a lot.

Answer to YB Liew Chin Tong Answer to YB Dr Haji Izani bin Haji Husin

How can we have two different sets of crime statistic for the year 2013? And the difference between these 2 sets of statistic is huge. Instead of busy probing Pakatan members of Parliament under Sedition Act, can our Home Minister spare some time to explain to us the discrepancies?

Ministers should be held accountable for the answers and replies to the Parliament. Parliament being one of the highest institutions in the country should not be taken lightly, or we will never have a first class Parliament in Malaysia.
