Despite the claims by the Education Minister Mahdzir Khalid and his deputy Senator Chong Sin Woon that the allocations for SJKCs in 2016 was slashed due to the budget cut, there are news reported that the said allocations was disallocated for other usage and eventually affected the allocations that are supposedly to be distributed to all SJKCs.
As such, DAP would like to demand both the minister and the deputy minister to tell us the truths of where has the money gone, and not to push all the blames to the Federal Treasury. If not, the integrity of the whole federal government will be undermined severely, not to mention the Ministry of Education alone.
If comparing with the altitudes shown by MCA leaders in 2015, after RM30 million as part of RM50 million allocation for SJKCs was initially being transferred for the flood victims aids in Kelantan, Chong Sin Woon announced in November 2015 that the full allocation was reimbursed and eventually will get it distributed in stages in December 2015.
But for 2016, even with less than 10 days left, why Chong Sin Woon still claimed a few days ago, that his ministry is still seeking the additional allocation from the Federal Treasury. This RM50 million supposedly for SJKCs should not be part and parcel of the additional allocation to be sought from the Federal Ministry.
And if the problems was not due on the part of the Ministry of Education, Mahdzir Khalid will not asked the SJKCs to “take what you can” in an unfashioned way! We have every reason to believe that a substantial portion of the allocations for SJKCs in 2016 was disallocated for other usages which is unjustifiable in any manner.
Both the minister and deputy minister should not orchestrated such a lousy drama as a way to misperceive the SJKCs and its community as a whole. We are not political beggars and the SJKCs should not be treated in such a way. We want the MCA to take full responsibility over this and even to pay the price over its failure to secure a better future for SJKCs.
There are two things for MCA to do before the closing of 2016, the first thing is to fork out RM50 million fully for the SJKCs and get it distributed immediately, and the second thing is no other than to admit its failure and tender its sincere apology to the community. Failing which, MCA should get itself prepared to lose more seats in the coming GE14.
