When a national school in Putrajya made its pupils sing the UMNO party song and wave the ruling party’s flag during an event attended by UMNO and BN secretary-general, did Education Depertment issue any warning letter to the headmistress?
DAP Pekan Nanas rented the hall of Pei Chun Chinese Independent School to hold a fundraising dinner on April 7. Pei Chun Chinese Independent School is a private school and did not receive any funding from the Government. The hall was built by the Board of Director using donation from the general public. Johor Bahru Education Department has no right to interfere with the rental matters.
Johor Bahru Education Department and Ministry of Education must come out with a proper explanation.
Why they did not serve any warning letters to the school when the school rented out the same hall to BN component parties Gerakan and MCA just last month? Is this selective and malicious prosecution?
And more importantly, if pupils were made to sing the UMNO party song and wave UMNO’s flag during an event in October last year and yet no action is being taken against the school, then why it is wrong for Pei Chun Independent School to rent its hall to DAP to organize an event?
This is not the first time Johor Education Department taking an unreasonable step to punish schools that rent its hall to DAP. In 2014, the head teacher of a Chinese primary school in Pekan Nanas was also transferred after the school rented out its hall to Pekan Nanas State Assemblyman Yeo Tung Seong in 2014.
Ministry of Education should stop their double standard practice. MOE is a government institution and should not involve in party politics. MOE should serve the rakyat and not BN or MCA or Gerakan!
