It was reported in today’s Utusan Malaysia and Chinapress that Kedah Mentri Besar Datuk Mukhriz Mahathir, when responding to my criticism of him practicing politics of vengeance, has maintained his position that priority will be given to BN supporters.
Utusan Malaysia has quoted him as saying that he cannot help it if there are quarters who view his actions negatively as he will not changed his stand.
When asked if such a stand will cause BN to lose Chinese support, he said BN has lost the Chinese support and that the community was unfortunate because even though they supported DAP but opposition had failed to win Kedah and Federal governments.
In Chinapress, he was quoted to even say that it was justifiable for the Kedah government to give priority to its own supports as Penang government is also doing the same.
I maintain what I have said on September 29, that is, his stand that he will not entertain requests from Chinese schools due to Chinese support for Opposition, is politics of vengeance.
It is a stand that is unjust, undemocratic and unacceptable. Mukhriz who talks about “berani ubah” must have the courage to admit his mistake and retract his remarks.
There is no doubt that he is practicing politics of vengeance and any attempt to justify it will only be a futile attempt to defend the indefensible.
Our nation has achieved Independence for 56 years, why can’t he a Malaysian First Mentri Besar?
Mukhriz has recently said that Umno must be ready for the day when Pakatan Rakyat no longer has any dinosaur in its midst. He was referring to seasoned PR leaders.
It looks like he is a big dinosaur himself, not because he is a seasoned political giant, but because he has outdated political thinking and styles.
I challenge him to show proof when the DAP led Penang state government has ever made any remarks that it will give priority to DAP supporters or has implemented policy which is discriminating against non DAP supporters.
DAP and Pakatan Rakyat do not believe in politics of vengeance and our stand is always to accord fair and equal treatment to all races.
My second challenge to Mukhriz is– is he prepared to tell the Chinese voters in upcoming Sungai Limau by election that BN does not require their votes?
