MCA Secretary General Ong Ka Chuan should stop trying to deny the undeniable and admits the fact that UMNO, through its Minister in Prime Minister Department Jamil Khor Baharom, is the biggest political player behind Hadi’s Private Member Bill on Act 355.
Ong Ka Chuan has claimed that Jamil Khir Baharom’s planned attendance at the Act 355 rally is not sanctioned by the cabinet or by BN, and any cabinet ministers who attend the 355 Rally are on their individual accord and do not represent the federal government or BN.
I wish to remind Ong Ka Chuan, if he has selectively forgotten, it was UMNO’s Minister Jamil Khir’s parliamentary statement in 27th March, 2014 which stated that the Federal Government was ready to work with the PAS Kelantan State Government to implement the hudud law in Kelantan, had brought to the constitutional stalemate today. Jamil’s move had eventually led to a joint Putrajaya (BN) and Kelantan (PAS) technical committee on the implementation of Islamic Criminal Laws.
Ong had tried to claim that Hadi’s Private Members Bill or the 355 Rally were never raised and discussed by the ruling coalition and the attendance by Jamil shall not be taken as the government agreeing to the Bill.
This leads to a further question to MCA: Had MCA ever being consulted prior to the granting of priority of Hadi’s Private Members Bill, not once but twice, by the BN-led Government, against others Government Bills in May and November last year in Parliament, and followed by the announcement by Najib Razak for the government to take over Hadi’s Bill in March this year?
UMNO’s stance on Hadi’s Private Member Bill is very clear after Najib’s announcement of taking over of the Bill.
Does Ong actually know what is happening or just try to selectively ignore the fact that UMNO is the biggest political player behind Hadi’s Private Member Bill?
