Open invitation to Finance and Prime Minister, Dato’ Seri Najib Razak to debate and explain the RM55 billion 1MDB and RM4.2 billion “donation” scandal to the voters after his Cabinet meeting in Kuching

DAP Parliamentary Leader, Lim Kit Siang has suggested today that “the last three nights of the Sarawak election campaign be devoted to a series of Great Sarawak Debates on 1MDB in Kuching on Wednesday, Sibu on Thursday and Miri on Friday.”

He has challenged the Finance and Prime Minister, Dato’ Seri Najib Razak, who is ultimately responsible for the monster 1MDB scandal to appear at all three Sarawak Debates “so that Sarawakian voters can fully understand the ins and outs; the origin, causes, development and solution of Malaysia’s first global financial scandal.”

Since Dato’ Seri Najib Razak will be in Kuching to hold the Federal Government Cabinet Meeting, we have specially planned a ceramah tomorrow night after his Cabinet meeting in Kuching for him to present his case to the people of Kuching and Sarawak.

The Prime Minister will be specially allotted the prime slot at 9pm at our ceramah location in front of Kim Thai Trading Co., 3rd Mile Bazaar.

Dato’ Seri Najib Razak will be given a full and unhindered opportunity to explain not only to the people of Kuching but 2.6 million Sarawakians, if they have to foot the bill for the 1MDB financial disaster. He will also be able to explain the question which Sarawakians have been asking over the past few nights – where did the RM4.2 billion worth of “donations” go?

If the Prime Minister, is unable to make it to “The Great Sarawak 1MDB Debate”, he may assign others to explain the matter on his behalf, including the Sarawak Chief Minister, Tan Sri Adenan Satem who had feigned ignorance over the 1MDB scandal, or for that matter, SUPP President, Dato’ Dr Sim Kui Hian who also happens to be the candidate for Batu Kawah.

From the DAP, Lim Kit Siang, who is currently in Song, will rush to Kuching if the Prime Minister chooses to attend, and myself (via Skype), will take part in this Great Debate.

Mature political debates are the embodiment of a healthy and vibrant democracy, and an integral part of free and fair elections. The voters will be given every opportunity to weigh the facts and views presented by the debaters before casting their votes on polling day.

Therefore the people of Kuching and Sarawak will await with great anticipation, the acceptance by the Prime Minister or anyone of his nominees, of this open invitation by the DAP.
