Opposition is patriotic by correcting the wrongdoings of government

Gerakan, the little composition party of Barisan Nasional (BN), is trying to cover their boss’s failure by attacking the opposition being not patriotic.

Pakatan Rakyat (PR) is a responsible opposition and real patriot. We always look at ourselves as the alternative government. We are offering constructive suggestions and criticisms to correct the wrongdoings of the current ruling party in power.

PR has submitted memorandum for Eastern Coast security issues to Chief Minster back in May, and there are few constructive suggestions highlighted. Among the suggestions is ESSCOM should be closed down and replaced by a joint command of police and military which is headed by a senior police officer.

We have pointed out again and again that ESSCOM is not equivalent to a military nor policing type command but only acting as coordinator and not commander in security regards. But the water security in Esszone is related to internal security therefore, the police force should be given mandate to protect it and the people.

And our suggestion has been proven right when the Director General of ESSCOM step down and the commander job taken over by DCP Datuk Abdul Rashid Harun. The authorities eventually realise that a senior police officer is more suitable for the job as we have pointed out much more earlier in our memorandum. They are too late to realise the shortfall of ESSCOM.

Therefore, what PR have done is in line with Wong’s statement that “they (opposition) should give a hand to how best we can overcome these problems together”. How can the Gerakan Sepanggar Chief blamed on PR that “start to burn our own kitchen while robbers are outside”?

Heads must roll in the ESSCOM for the repeating and never-ending kidnapping cases happened in Semporna, Lahad Datu and Kunak.

Chief Minister is the chairman for ESSCOM and chairman for state security council. Even though security is under federal power, the top man of the state still need to accountable for his failure to get serious attention from federal over the security matter.

We have no choice. Drastic action have to be taken to highlight the issue. The method is by filing application to move no confidence vote against him.

Even MCA National Youth chief Chong Sin Woon had said that the Chief Minister should take full responsibility of the kidnapping incidents in Esszone. It is reported that Chong also suggested to shut down ESSCOM and to give full power to the National Security Council to handle the security issues in Sabah, especially kidnapping cases instead.

I think MCA would agree with our motion application if they really meant for what have said. So it’s interesting to note the official stand of the new MCA state assemblyman Hiew King Cheu in the assembly sitting.
