P195 Power Pickle Programme

In response to the growing popularity of pickleball, my service centre has introduced the P195 Power Pickle Programme, a free initiative offering weekly pickleball lessons throughout the month of June for youths under the age of 25.

The programme provides four structured training sessions scheduled on June 7, 14, 21, and 28, from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM, at Pickle Pro Court, Tabuan Laru. Participants will receive coaching from experienced trainers, and all necessary equipment will be provided.

With only 32 slots available, the programme operates on a first come, first served basis to ensure each participant receives quality guidance and attention. Interested youths are encouraged to register via the link available on my official Facebook page – https://www.facebook.com/DrKelvinYii

This initiative is part of a broader effort to encourage young people to lead active lifestyles, reduce screen dependency, and foster better social and teamwork skills. YB Kelvin Yii emphasised that physical activity plays an essential role in youth development and hopes that programmes like this will inspire more young Sarawakians to take up healthy and engaging recreational sports.

Pickleball is a fast-growing sport that blends elements of tennis, badminton, and ping pong. Its simple rules and dynamic gameplay make it accessible and enjoyable for players of all ages and skill levels. The sport has already seen significant growth internationally, especially in North America and Asia, and is steadily gaining traction in Malaysia as a fun, family-friendly form of exercise.

This programme not only enhances participants’ physical coordination and reflexes but also strengthens relationships among peers and families through shared activity and friendly competition.
