PAS should be schooled once again on the Federal Constitution and their understanding of Islam, as both Islam and all main stream religions do not run down on other religions

PAS MP Ahmad Fadhli accused DAP advisor Lim Kit Siang of breaching the Federal Constitution after he commented on an open letter by Anas Zubedy that urged Zakir Naik to leave Malaysia voluntarily.

Ahmad’s allegation, however, is unfounded as Lim never made such a statement condemning Zakir’s preaching to non-Muslims.

In addition, Ahmad could not point out which provision of the Federal Constitution Lim had breached; therefore, to ask Lim, a Malaysian citizen protected under the Federal Constitution to leave the country, is “unconstitutional” and “irrational”.

While Lim is one of the longest serving members of parliament, Zakir is an Indian National, who is now a wanted man in his home country for money laundering and other charges.

Recently, even Prime Minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad made a very severe comment about Zakir that he is an unwelcome guest because his extreme view is a threat to the country’s racial and religious relations and no other country wants him.

On the same note, do PAS and, in particular, Ahmad also want Tun Mahathir to leave Malaysia too?

If not, PAS should explain to the people why we are keeping fugitive Zakir in Malaysia when even he is turned down by Saudi Arabia which gave him citizenship and 10 other countries that have offered him citizenships.

The fact remains that Zakir has been promoting enmity and hatred between different religious groups through public speeches and lectures. He has also been denigrating other non-Muslim religions which has sparked a lot of controversies.

PAS should be schooled once again on the Federal Constitution and their understanding of Islam, as both Islam and all main stream religions do not run down on other religions.
