Penang UMNO’s grievous insults, outrageous slurs and lies that the political and economic strength of the Chinese in Penang comes from illegal economic activities such as illegal is also directed at Penang Police who had openly denied such activities. Penang UMNO Permatang Pauh Division Chairman Datuk Mohd Zaid Mohd Said said such illegal activities flourished because the Malays are mild-mannered and the relevant authorities are turning a blind eye to them. This is not only irresponsible but wrong.
This contradicts the repeated assertions by Penang Chief Police Officer Datuk Abdul Rahim Hanafi that there are no such illegal activities in Penang. As late as the end of last month, Datuk Abdul Rahim said that the police had conducted raids on the gambling dens adding that, “For the record, Penang has zero illegal gambling machines.” .
The Penang UMNO leaders showed his hatred for the Chinese community when he said that the Chinese are committing such ”crimes” in broad daylight, but UMNO leaders are too fearful to point out their wrongdoings. Is the police in Penang so ineffective that such lawlessness or illegal activity exists?
The Penang state government would like to challenge Penang UMNO to show proof where the illegal gambling, prostitution and entertainment outlets are located instead of making baseless allegations against hard-working and law-abiding Chinese community earning a honest living in Penang. If Penang UMNO can not show proof, then BN Penang Chairman Teng Chang Yeow should either demand that action be taken against Penang UMNO leaders or resign himself for being an ineffectual BN Penang Chair without power.
There is no point demanding a full apology from Penang UMNO because no action would be taken against such racist and extremist UMNO leaders. After all retaining the Sedition Act is to use or abuse such laws as a political weapon by BN against opposition PR leaders not against Penang UMNO leaders who continue to insult the Chinese community.
UMNO have given up on winning the Chinese voters and have now decided to insult them with lies and falsehoods. But has MCA and Gerakan given up on the Chinese in Penang until they can continue to work with UMNO? If these MCA and MIC leaders have any honour and dignity they should immediately leave BN and not work with UMNO.
