The arrests of PKR vice-president Tian Chua, PAS member Tamrin Ghaffar and Anything But Umno (ABU) leader Haris Ibrahim have sparked outrage amongst Pakatan Rakyat leaders in the aftermath of the arrest of student leader Adam Adli who has been charged for Sedition.
DAP’s MP for Segambut, Lim Lip Eng slammed the Home Ministry for their high handed approach in what is seen to be a crack-down on non-violent forms of protest.
“The police should shift their concentration back to crime prevention instead of spending their time arresting politicians and student activists,” he said.
Lim said that these arrests may be the tip of the iceberg as there may be further arrests including the arrests of DAP leaders.
“The DAP is willing to give our full co-operation to the police for their investigations. If the police would reveal to us who are the leaders on their list and what the charges are under the relevant act, we would be more than willing to go to a designated police station at an appointed time.”
