Sabah technical working committee’s report following a Royal Commission of Inquiry (RCI) report into Sabah’s immigrant issues should be tabled in the coming State Assembly sitting by it’s chairman Tan Sri Joseph Pairin Kitingan.
Issues of illegal immigrants are part of the problem for the cross border kidnap-for-ransom threat, the menace for east coast of the state.
It’s too late to blame anybody for failing to rescue the victim. But it’s never too late to crackdown on the enemies within who are likely to cooperate with cross border criminals to commit crimes in Sabah. We need to clean up the illegal immigrants problem here.
The issue is so complicated that not only prevention of outsider intrusion is important (role of ESSCOM in protecting ESSZone), but the insider’s help to the armed men group should be addressed as well.
I criticize the government for the lack of concrete action since RCI report was released last December. The panel report should be expedited and made public as soon as possible.
The long awaited Pairin’s report is so important. As he has promised to submit the report by year end, it is the high time for us to discuss it deliberately in the coming State Assembly sitting, started on this Friday afternoon.
It was learnt that Pairin is expected to submit a report to a permanent committee, chaired by Home Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi and Sabah Chief Minister Datuk Seri Musa Aman. The permanent committee will then study the recommendations and improvement proposals submitted by the working committee and bring them to the Cabinet, and to monitor the implementation of the Cabinet’s decision.
The whole process of RCI technical working committee’s report submission is lacking of consultations with the public. I have no idea on who is giving feedback and recommendations to the committee headed by Pairin. It should be made public by tabling it in the state assembly. Let every people representatives debate it.
For instance, a proposal for a new high tech Sabah identity card would be among the recommendations, according to Pairin.
But we don’t know any head and tail regarding the so called high tech Sabah identity card. What’s the function of it? What’s the difference between Sabah IC and national IC?
