118,774 voters were moved to different state constituencies, with 40,000 voters moved to different parliamentary constituencies by Election Commission based on the notice of polling districts and polling centers for the federal and state constituencies of the states of Malaya published on 29 April 2016 in comparison to the electoral roll which was gazetted on 26 November 2014.
Perak is the state with the highest number of voters transferred. Out of the 118,774 voters transferred, 30,173 voters were transferred in Perak which represent 25.4% of the total voters transferred.
The EC had misled the public by publishing a federal gazette that merely informed the public of changes to the polling centers and districts when it had actually redrawn the electoral boundary for the seat.
We are registering our strongest protest in the manner that the boundaries were redrawn as voters directly affected are not notified personally by any letter but only a notice of changes to polling centers and district were displayed at the local town council offices.
We demand that EC notify all affected voters in this exercise by mail so that the voters will not be caught by surprise come polling day.
We have reason to believe that this is a dirty tactic from the Barisan National to secure a victory at Federal level and also Perak State in the coming General Election amid the 1MDB monstrous scandal as most of the seats involved are marginal seats.
The redrawing of electoral boundary is unconstitutional, unfair and a tantamount to cheating & manipulating election results.
The EC must prove valid reason for the redrawing of electoral boundaries and the manner in which the notice was given within 7 days, failing which we will consider to lodge police report & a legal action to challenge this massive transfer of voters.
