Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad started his tenure as Prime Minister in 1981. However, even before he appeared as the 4th Prime Minister of Malaysia, MCA already lost its Finance Minister post in 1974.
Tun Dr Mahathir retired from the post of Prime Minister in 2003. However even though he has disappeared, it still takes MCA 15 years to have recognition of UEC written in the BN Manifesto. And still, the recognition is attached with two conditions, a credit in BM and a pass in History.
Tun Dr Mahathir reappeared in politics as Pakatan Harapan Chairman. Recognition of UEC appeared in PH Manifesto. All UEC holders can apply to enter public universities if they have BM credit in SPM.
Tun M reappears, rocket disappears temporary in the coming GE, but what emerges is a united front that will put BN to the toughest test. What also emerges is the greatest opportunity for the people of Malaysia to defeat BN in the coming General Election.
Let me take this opportunity to educate Liow Tiong Lai the meaning of our Rocket symbol.
- The blue circle stands for the unity of the multi-racial people of Malaysia.
- The white background stands for purity and incorruptibility.
- The red rocket symbolizes the Party’s aspiration for a modern, dynamic and progressive society.
- The four rocket boosters in Red and blue represent the support and drive given to the Party objectives by all races in Malaysia.
The coming General Election is not about DAP, it is not about our personal or DAP’s pride and honour. But it is about whether we can save the country from kleptocracy and to achieve the Malaysian Dream, even if it would mean that we have to adopt a common logo in the coming General Election. Putting aside our personal pride and honour and to put national interest above any other things, that is the true spirit of the Rocket symbol.
I don’t think MCA President Liow Tiong Lai would ever understand. However, being the president of a party who has never used its own logo in any of the General Election, can he please enlighten us, did they give up their own logo so that nobody will be held accountable for 1MDB? So that Malaysia will be known worldwide as a kleptocracy nation?
